Is this a training camp or from an actual battle? Lack of gear says training to me. But then, I haven't been in the military, so what do I know?

Well, the foliage and terrain are certainly consistent with that of central Iraq (loosely using "central" here)- since one of those Marines has a helmet, my best guess is that there was an ambush of somekind. Hit-and-run warfare is the norm of the region. Having said that, I am as much buried in ignorance as the last guy, so all of that could be wrong.

Regardless, hope they made it out okay.
