How should we go about this?

I've been posting drawfaggotry as "drawfag_production", that thing about "black_and_white" vs. "b&w", what else?

How do we make this easy for ourselves?

for instance, should we just have an "old" tag for the elderly, or be specific, "old_man" "old_woman"?

Unsure. Someone suggested using "monochrome" as a tag, rather than "black_and_white," though.

I would think being specific would be better, but that's just my opinion.

i agree about specifics. names for different races also might be a problem. Orks for example are spelled differently or called different names in pretty much every series. how should we go about that?

Don't forget about setting up aliases for tags, at the moment the only alias set up changes '40k' to 'Warhammer_40k'. It can get a lot of the work of standardising tags done for us.

Well, I'd suggest 'orks' for 40k orks (and maybe fantasy Warhammer orks too, but I don't know much about them) and 'orcs' for DnD, Tolkien, Warcraft, and all other kinds of orcs. Stops any confusion, and also means you don't have to sift through piles of 40k stuff if you're looking for a DnD orc.

Orcs and Orks should really be separate, yes.

As for aliases, what about a picture with someone wielding a warhammer distinguished from Warhammer Fantasy? Or the Battlemech? Or is that just too trivial?

I'd guess 'warhammer_(weapon)' and 'warhammer_(battlemech)' or whatever. the game Warhammer is probably going to be the most popular posted one, so that can stay without the _(game) on the end.

Commissar and Commissar_Hat be separate tags.

The hats are impressive enough to warrant their own.

I'll go back and change them then.

+1 for "monochrome".

Questions:
- Is there a way to get a list of tags currently in use?
- How do we alter the tag properties? For example, the "Greenmarine" tag should be red (since he's an artist), the "Cultist-chan" tag would be green (character), the "D&D" tag would be purple (source), et cetera. It'd also be nice if the tags could be displayed in the correct case, but I don't know if the *booru system is even capable of that.
- And speaking of tag editing, how do you add information about a tag so that someone can click on the question mark next to it?

Monochrome editing finished.

Next tag problem/question!

the best way to go about this is the way that gelbooru does it. they separate subjects, characters, and artists into different kind of tags. i'm not sure how to go about doing this but that would definitely work

I think we need to not be too specific such as "old_woman" rather it should separated into parts i.e. "old" and "female", otherwise the amount of tags for every picture would go up at an exponential rate since you'd have to literally cover EVERY possibility to ensure people get it. It's not that you can't have more specific ones, just make sure it does have the more generic ones.

Also we need to get some order going with words that have similar meanings or find a way to clump them together. I've been seeing a tag for "female" and a tag for "woman", we need to group those together somehow.

This is how you're supposed to use aliases. But apparently because it's spelled "Woman" insteand of "woman," there isn't a redirection to "female". Shit sucks.

Actually, it's because the admin isn't around to approve aliases, so there's only one on the list that actually works until we find the admin.

I've been filing relevant works under "drawfag_production" too, but that seems like an unwieldy description. Maybe it should be shortened to "drawfag_art" or simply "drawfag"?

But the current tag works fine for consistency purposes, and it should still be used until there's a consensus on whether (and how) to change it.

Another good rule of thumb is to always tag something with the singular of whatever you are tagging. For instance, if you post a picture that has multiple axes in it, just tag it as "axe", for that matter, only tag something as "weapon" rather than "weapons" no matter how many there are in the picture. The same with races, "elf" rather than "elves" etc.

That would go a long way to standardizing these labels.

Ok, I'll tag "underboobs" as "underboob" from now on. Got it.
